The memorial concert held for Erne Parkin on January 23rd was a resounding success. Nearly 400 people packed Milngavie Town Hall to celebrate his life and music and the event raised over £5000 for his favourite charity, the Suzy fund. Friends, fellow musicians, professional colleagues and local politicians paid tribute to him. The 5 hour concert included performances from Cross Border Band and friends, Doghouse, members of the Healys, the cast of 'Up The Raw', Viking Galaxy (Erne's son's band) and fellow musicians from St Joseph's and AGAP.
Many thanks to all who made it such a success. As Erne's wife Dorothy remarked, he would have been delighted to see Milngavie Town Hall crammed with so many people - and extremely annoyed at not having the chance to perform in front of such a large and enthusiastic audience! Quite a number of people were unable to get a ticket for the concert, so great was the demand - and so the presentations above - which formed part of the concert - will be lodged here for a short while. NOTE: The concert itself was filmed and a DVD of the evening will shortly be available. Please let us know if you are interested in obtaining a copy. (Proceeds, as usual, will go to the Suzy Fund)
